I am a diabetic so I had to be induced 2 weeks early with Ethan. I went in on December 1, 2006 at 10:00 pm. I was already in labor before they induced, I was 2 cm dilated. They gave me the pitocin and within half an hour I was in full and active labor. After 8 hours of contractions I got an epidural. 8 hours later it was time to push. I pushed for 40 minutes and then our beautiful baby born was born at 4:39 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2006. He was 19 1/2 inches long (including the knot on his head from bumping into me, and 7 pounds, 13 ounces. He was very healthy and happy. We decided, in the middle of the night, to name him Ethan Jacob. Ethan is just a name we both liked and it means mighty and long life. Jacob is my little brother's name and it means supplanter.
