The other day I walked over to look out the window and noticed about 10 ladybugs flying around in between the glass of the window and the screen. I have never heard of a home being infested with ladybugs until I started looking on the internet and found out it is a common occurrence on the east coast and down south. But these bugs are not ladybugs, they are called Asian lady beetles. They were brought here from Asia to put on farms to keep insects from eating crops. They love light colored homes and enter them in the fall to sleep until the cold weather is gone, then in the summer they fly into the home. They will bite or pinch and when they are squashed they leak a yellow fluid from their legs that smells bad and will stain. Because they were used on farms (with insecticide) they have become immune to bug sprays. The best way to get rid of them is to vacuum them up. So, I hate these bugs and I do not want my kids to get bit by them, I guess I will be vacuuming a lot until the weather gets colder and they go to sleep in the walls. I'll just have to pull the vacuum out in the spring again. Blah! I hate east coast bugs!
